SciFi and Fantasy Art: Parus Cristatus

While fixing up the old 'Temple Equinoxe' I decided it needs something more and... Well now you cant see most of it. *sigh*

Very good coloring but would still like to see a version without character cuz the columns on the left side are very interesting and were well drawn...but this is really great...very uplifting! A word from the Dolphin: O.K. Julie comming up soon! 2

Hey little birdie - tell him to be careful with that thing - he's lible to hurt somebody - most likely himself - cool vest - interesting temple ... ~12 Dolphin: Yeah, Its just for rituals.. So better if he kept it on its altar. 12The gem glows in a cool way if you say the magic word 12

I like this picture a lot, nice colours.
I've got some constructive (hopefully 12 criticism though:
Firstly, as the character and background are done in different style, they don't blend together. Having said that I admit that I LIKE the fact that they are done in a different style 2 It makes the pic so much more original. So maybe the solusion would be not to make them blend together but to emphasize the differences, to devide them even more (with a thicker dark border or something).
Second, it's hard to see the bird and his hand as there are a lot of details on the temple behind. It would look better if the temple was moved to the left, so that his hand was against the sky.

And that's all I had to say. Once again, nice work!

:-) Andréas Oh replies: "Ah, the enchanting miss Lox.. Yes you are quite right as this character was just made to add a little life to this colored and revised version of the CGI temple I made after someone complained it was a little dull, I have taken this image down now, although it can be found on my page if you like to see it without the birdguy (its also a completly differant picture really, and I think you like that one better) in front of it? Then it`ll be apparent that the dimension wont allow any movement as this is the full image... And even though I'm not a big fan of borders around characters (as it makes them look a little like cardboard dolls) I do think you are quite right on this. As a linear note the bird (whose Latin name is the name of the image too) is a messenger between the land of the living and the various other plans of existence that have a dimensional focus point in this temple... The temple was built around this phenomenon rather than actually cousing it to be, Magic is simply what appears to be unexplainable to the human mind and still controlled by a select few. Thanks! I`ll be sure to pass by some day for the new stuff in your gallery. - ^o^`"

Wow ... excellent background, I love how it has such a cloudy consistency, makes it seem sub-reality sort of. And the guy in the front too, is excellently drawn. And I like his outfit.

:-) Andréas Oh replies: "I like that you said this about sub-reality, It could be seen as this fella is here to talk to someone (the siluette in the temple) whom has passed away and the bird is the messanger who can pass between the realms of the living and the spirits... If entering the spirits may not want to let go of their loved ones?"

Hmmm nice photoshop work...I can't do a blasted thing with it meself. I love this guy's outfit, very creative and great perspective on the sword. bravo!

:-) Andréas Oh replies: "That does not surprise me at all.. You see this was colored in Paintshop 7.0 wich is much better for doing this stuff (in my experience anyways..) Im comparing to Photoshop 6 then, I have only used PS6 for webgraphics and editing in my work though, But overall I like PSP7 better for actuall "painting" (and its not as expensive either2 hope this helps you.. (you can get a 30day demo at www.jasc.com by the way and see for yourself.. 2 Glad you liked the image, Thanks Aimee. - ^o^"

This is my favorite in your gallery. Wonderful coloring and a very good drawing. I love the background: glowing temple with this shadowy figure on the entrance, mysterious swirls of the sky and waves of the ground... And I like the foreground, especially the details of the character's outfit, hair and the sword. Interesting thing: It looks like the background and the foreground are done in different styles… I like it!2
