SciFi and Fantasy Art: Candid Camera

I always liked Candid Camera, so this is my take on it, Dwight has chipped a horn and has innocently gone shopping for a new one, whilst all the other hors range from 1 to 11 dollars, the one he's picked up costs $1000, i love how his face turned out, so shocked!

*first comment dance* Ok, I hope you don't hit me for this, but you said you want serious critique and that's what you'll get! 12 First of I like his expression, really shocked! 2 And now to my ranting... Well, the shading is nicely done so far, but you should take the shadows in better consideration. But before you bother about learning to draw shadows, you really should consider learning how to sketch with geometrical objects! Already found a book on that? You should search one, because they ARE helpful! Teaching to draw over the internet is SO difficult, especially for me! :/ After all I can only tell you to practice and observe, yes observe, study how animals and humans are build. Look how light affects the look of objects and vice versa! Ahh.. I hope you are not mad at me for this. 2 You have a good eye for detail and you are very creative, even if it sounds rediculous, keep practicing and you'll grow a great artist! It worked for me, and my drawings where much worse at the beginning than yours! 12 BTW, what is Dwight, a roleplay character of yours, or what? ok! nope, Dwights a comic charicter, which I made up while reading a terrible boring book about Dwight D. Eisenhowers...child hood days...snore...

It's a sweet picture. Technique is effective if a little basic but hey' what can you expect?

:-) Andrea 'Silver1' Bodel replies: "Thank you James. If only I could have replied to this before you died. Rest in peace my friend."

*lol* That is very hilarious... I absolutely ADORE the expression there, he seems rather... not pleased... at the offer... Heheh, you got good imagination, me thinks!

:-) Andrea 'Silver1' Bodel replies: "$1000 for a HORN? I'm not PAYING IT! I'll go around with a chip in my horn...adds character anyway! LoL, thanks for your comments 2"

Agrees with Laura. 11/10 for imagination! Hehehe! Well done!

Now,as far as comming from another artists point of view, yes the shading could be a little darker in some places and proportion taken into account, but you have a great eye for detail and a fantastic sense of humor! Great work!

:-) Andrea 'Silver1' Bodel replies: "*proffesional look clouds face* Where can it use to be shaded? Whats out of proportion? What animals do you reccomend for references? Please, please, PLEASE tell me! I always like to know when I can make something better...unless I'm really proud of something...lol!"

The whole picture is really good, but his eyes kind of look like they are looking at the horns on display and not at the one in his hand.

:-) Andrea 'Silver1' Bodel replies: "it should be somewhere in the middle. He's not looking at the horn or the ones on display, but the tag."

I don't like giving critisim usually on specifics because it may sound as if i either (a) don't like the piece or (b) I come across way to harsh. So let me say first of all, I love your work, especially this one and if I sound too harsh, I dont mean to.
Ok.
Well you wanted to know where he could be shaded a little? Just maybe a small amount around the curve of his neck and maybe a little shadow on his chest area. Otherwise, it looks like you've just pasted the neck and head onto the body which makes it look a little flat.
The wings could also be shaded a little on the inside, just to show that they are comming from his back and not straight out from his sides.
I think thats everything! *sighs and smiles* I hope my advice can help. Keep up the great work!

:-) Andrea 'Silver1' Bodel replies: "Oh no, I know you didn't mean anything bad, I just wanted to know how to fix it. If I knew it was a problem, it wouldn't be there in the first place, and if I knew HOW to fix it once I see the problem I'd do so. I just wanted to know *how* so I can fix it. You know? Thanks very much for the tips, I'll put that in my next update, let you know when its up!"
