SciFi and Fantasy Art: Jafger

This is a portrait I did of my unicorn, Jafger. I've been kind of moody do to a lot of stressful problems lately. I think I did a pretty good job on it, but that of course, is in the eye of the beholder.

I like this unicorn, although a little stiff, as you replied in the above comment, it is more your style. The unicorn almost looks like it's a wood carving and that to me in it's self is amazing.

You've done well with proportions and shading here. Keep it up!

Hi I just clicked on this link when I was doing research on the muscular system of horses. I have rodeoed and rode horses my whole life so I know a little something about the way they look and how they move. I think you have a good start, but you want to know of how to draw muscle. All I can say is there are thousands of books out there that show how to add muscle onto horses, not just in anatomy books but drawing books. The best way though to learn how to draw muscle is just to go out and watch real horses in the way they move and act and do sketches while you watch them. Keep drawing and one day it will all click together, because no one can explain to someone of how to be an artist and draw.

:-) Andrea 'Silver1' Bodel replies: "Thanks so much! I have my own horse now (finally) and so I'll take advantage of her constant willingness to show off muscle tone (to say nothing of stand still eating) and work on muscles. I really appreciate the time and effort you went into to write that for me. *hugs* *scurries off*"

He's great. He's simple. but great. I do think he looks a little stiff though. Also, his neck looks a little short to me, but that could just be the angle. No matter what, though, it's a great picture. You should keep drawing horses!
