SciFi and Fantasy Art: Manticore

Manticore. Wild, extremely dangerous nightmare creature is now looking quite satisfyed. Perhaps after its sinister meal...

Well first of all i gotta say that this is great; the tail, the wings, the cat part, the face, everything is perfectly peachy. Second, i need to ask you: Do you use a model for your more realistic-styled pictures, or do they just come out of your mind? I don't know how anything could look so perfect without a model, but then i don't know where the heck you could find a manticore, especially one willing to sit nicely while you draw it...2 You right. It's pretty hard to find a patient manticore nowadays. 2 Thus, wings, tail and head I drew from my mind. And the lion's body I took from some photo of a lion and transformed it a bit. Thank you, Emily!

Love the picture. Very realistic. I like how the body looks relaxes while the head seems to be waiting for someone to make a move. Out of idle curiosity, anyone know when manticores got wings? When Pliny described them, they just had three rows of teeth, the killer tail, speed beyond a hawk's, and projectile quills. Maybe I should start going with the new(er) version, I don't know. Anyway, all your work rules, and there's nothing else to say really. Good job. Thanks, Jimmy! Actually, this manticore is just as Zelyazny described it. And as you may see it in "Heroes of M&M" cpu game. 2

Looks cute to me...Can i pat him?...Mmh that may be not a good idea i need my hand to draw 22)) Yea, and let me advise you to draw your hand in iron gountlet. That will give you a chance to pat him with less demages 12 Thank you, Silvina!

yep HOMM3! I can't wait for the expansion. This is a fabulous job, but when I draw manticores/scorpicores ^_^ I don't have a human face because I don't know how to fit them into the scheme and look right. Magnificent job! Can't wait for HOMM4me too 2 Thank you, Diana! Magic "the Gathering" has a Manticore card - VERY powerful picture I must say.

I don't know if you watch Star Trek, but his face kind of reminds me of one of the Ferengi. That's not a bad thing though. I really like it.Thank you, Bethany! I do not watch Star Trek, but I'm glad you like my manticore! 2
