SciFi and Fantasy Art: Melissa

The castle and it's surrounding land had been under seige for months. The women had cut off their hair in anticipation for the attack, praying against hope that, should the gates fail, invading soldiers would mistake them for men and perhaps kill them instead. But now, as the lights of flaming arrows illuminate the night sky, and the castle under attack, Melissa grabbed her dagger and krept out of her chambers, against her father's order, intent of protecting her home.

When I draw, I make up stories.

colored pencils, ink, watercolors, bad scan.

I'm still in awe of the detailing on the blade and hilt of her weapon! I love the background, too, it really makes this picture.

:-) Lisa Ann (Jae) Andresen replies: "That blade detailing took a lot of work, but I learned an awful lot from doing it. So I guess I'll be doing more like it."

I'm in awe of the realistic detailing on that weapon! Absolutely exquisite. Wonderful concept, beautifully realized. ^_^

:-) Lisa Ann (Jae) Andresen replies: "My boyfriend has the beautiful, small reproduction sword with detailing on it very much like her dagger. I loved it so much I just had to put it in a drawing... I'm glad it turned out so well."

Oh! ::awed:: The look on her face, the background, the way she's poised for whatever comes, and that wonderful ornate dagger - Jae, this is one of your best. I love it!
