SciFi and Fantasy Art: Stained Glass Mermaid

I designed this piece specifically with my younger sister in mind, because she has always especially loved my mermaid images. The original is black and white linework, designed to be a coloring book page, but a little expirimentation with a digital camera and adobe photoshop produced this alternative. It's not 100% finished, as I still have some would like to add the flourish-y pieces in the upper corners and also brighten the grey tones, but grey tones go along with digital pictures taken in bad lighting, and anyway, this wasn't supposed to turn out as well as it did. When I get my scanner working and can actually obtan a decent base from which to work from, I might try digitally coloring another version. Til then, enjoy.

Oh wow, shes beautiful. I think its really neat how you made the border (borders are ALWAYS wonderful to make pictures keep some sort of balance) I love how her tail is weaved under it. And you did an esspecially beautiful job coloring this. I love the entier picture. And the Stainded glass part at the top REALLY adds to the picture!

This is stunning. I just love the shading, the way the colours slowly melt into one another - especiall on the mermaid, the gentle shift from skin colour to hte green of her tail. All of it is beautiful, though - the sunset, the water (and, btw - now that I've seen this one, I can see clearly enough that the "stuff under the bridge" in the black-and-white is water.

Just lovely. This would make an amazing print - I can even see it as one of those paper stained glass images. I'd love to put this on my window!

Oh, how lovely! One of my favorites in your gallery. Beautiful coloring; the whole composition is perfect and it really looks like a stained glass window. But the thing I like the most is that atmosphere, you know... I wish I was this mermaid... 2

This is gorgeous! It's just perfect, i don't think there's another word to describe it...just perfect! I love absolutely everything about this picture...the mermaid and the background. I especially love the nifty little side fins you gave her, and the way the tail sneaks around the border, It's just absolutely amazing, I would love for it to be in a coloring book, it just looks like so much fun to color!
