SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Fox

'A few creatures came and looked at them when the fire had died away. A fox passing through the wood on business of his own stopped several minutes and sniffed. 'Hobbits!' he thought. 'Well, what next? I have heard of strange doings in this land, but I have seldom heard of a hobbit sleeping out of doors under a tree. Three of them! There's something mighty queer behind this.' He was quite right, but he never found out any more about it.'

J.R.R. Tolkien: 'The Lord of the Rings', Book 1, Chapter 3: Three is Company

oo! That's one of my favorite passages in that book! (and that's my favorite book so that's saying something) I've looked at some of your other LOTR related pictures, and noticed few comments, and I think they deserve at least one more. Well done. I love the lighting, and the fox looks perfect.Thank you.

Wow! This is an amazing piece of work, just like all your other pics. Great job! I love the fox by the way. ...

Perhaps the cutest bit the story...the bit you never remember, then think, "Oo! That bit!" when you reread...

The hobbits are as hobbitish as always...

This is truly one of my favourite pictures in this gallery of yours! A short paragraph I didn't remember from the book, and I have read it many times! Thanks for reminding me of it! It's really one of the best and most peculiar scenes in the book when you think about it. So it's really obvious I didn't remember it... Hehe. It's been awhile since I've visited your gallery and I'm glad there's plenty new material! (Although I think this is one of your "older" works because I kind of remember seeing it in your other gallery. Am I right?)

Well! I am most pleased to see that not quite everyone has forgotten this small, but curious character. I am most impressed! The sleeping hobbits are excellent, how inocent they look, with no idea the horrors that lie in waiting before them. Very good pic!!

You are tealented in picking the most wonderful scenes out of the lord of the rings and give them a lovely visualization!

I love this passage in the book, its so Shire-ish!

I'd always wanted to see it visually represented, and you've done it! and such a wonderful job of it too.

I love your work (note to self, bookmark gallery) You bring Tolkien to life in a way I can't.

Thank you sooo much

Such a cute and accurate depiction of the Fox insident.Did I not tell you; you were the best?Aye but you deserve it again. It is watercolour right?Dificult and messy but yours is not messy at all.I love watercolours and I hate when someone miss uses them and the paintings look all messy even if good.I have seen my share of those in art galleries; and they call themselves artists because they can paint a flower motif and then try to sell it at thousands of dollars.True art like this is priceless.
