SciFi and Fantasy Art: Random Griffon

Just thought I'd try to tackle a Griffon... how'd I do? Hmmm... I kinda like him, 'specially his beak... but his shadow leaves something to be desired. It looks like he's sittin' on a big ol' pile of lint!

Man this pic rocks! I LOVE the color scheme and the pose he's in. The look on his face just tells you to not to mess with this guy/girl. The beak looks great too, I like the color variations in it, as opposed to it being one solid color, like most everyone else's Griffins are. Keep up the great work!

not too bad... its different than a lot of griffin pics out there. The large lion paws remind me of the lion king! ^_^ The wings might be a tad short? I dunno, i tend to think more "realistically" (if such thing could be said about thinking about fantasy!) and such small wings could hardly get such a large beast (even with hollow bones) into the air. But it looks cool anywho! come see mine ^_~

This is really good, but it looks more like a vulture than an eagle. Did you mean for it to look that way?

He is soooo beautiful...I just wish i could draw half as well as you, I admire ALL of youre work...ESPECIALLY one ear black your "fuzzy" dragon, he is superbly drawn, nothing left to be desired....Cory.

That is so gorgeous! Way better than is for sure! One thing, wings need to be bigger, and positioned slightly lower on the back. Remember, the wings must be able to lift the body ;o) And the beak is very awesome!

I love this gryphon, you have melded the two elements of hawk and large cat wonderfully. If i have one misgiving it is that the wings are not large enough for this gryphon to take flight lol but besides that it is wonderful kutgw.

I suggest that you work on your design elements a little. This is a great work as a character sketch but not as a full finished piece. Always try to keep the subject of the painting out of the center, it's good to move it around so that the viewer's not jsut stuck in the middle.

aside from that this is an awesome work. I absoloutle LOVE how you did the face, putting some of the lion's color in it. The wing may be a little small, but even so, GREAT JOB!

he looks like well, he’s part lion. And the cool thing is, you actually made the lion part (mane) show up, unlike other people!
