SciFi and Fantasy Art: Angèle

Angèle is a Gwezenn. I created her. A Gwezenn is the spirit of trees for the summer. Gwezenn are always girls. As you can see it, Angèle is crying because a poor boy hangs on her tree... This drawing must be seen with Marius. Marius is the other side of the drawing...

I've been viewing pictures for several hours now, and this is the first one I'm commenting to. I was very moved by your drawing. The emotions are displayed extremely well. The drawing seems to explain it's self yet leaves the viewer wanting to hear a story as a background. You did an Excellent job.

I like this. Wow. *grin* Seriosly, IMHO this is a very touching picture, so sad and still so beautiful. This piece of art really has a soul.. Besides, the tree is also very skilfully made 12

His neck's too long. *Darts away from the artist as she throws stones and escapes to the next gallery.*

I guess your neck is always too long when you've just hanged yourself...

Wow, I though I was depressed...very emotionnal pic, great work. One piece of constructive criticism though: The tree is too "heavy" in this picture. Its a big dark mass on one side of the canvas, while the rest of the image is either white or at least quite light, it draws the eye away from the corpse, wich should be what our eyes are drawn too. However, there are lots of small details here and there to keep the eye interrested, so its not a huge problem. In short: Cool pic, big tree.

Why is she hanging off of him? Trying to make his neck even longer

:-) Astrid Bailleux replies: "Well, make your imagination work... She's some kind of a spirit, so maybe she's flying or floating in the air..."
