SciFi and Fantasy Art: Suicide

I never wanted to commit suicide but I like the sadness of it. I think that pain is more interestant than joy. It's funny to think that I drew it on my 20th birthday... I'm quite proud of the hands, but not with the shoe on the floor.

I really love your style. Never mind someone's (above) wanting to see the stabwound... totally unnecissary. This is true art vs. comic fantasy illustration...it shows as much as necissary and is a real composition. Your style is simple but very effective. This picture makes me sad...as I think it is meant to. The one shoe on and one fallen off effectively gives the feeling of her body going limp as she drifts away from consciousness and life.

I was about to comment that only a person who has never experienced the agony of desiring their own death would enjoy the concept... but that's not entirely true. For people who suffer (for whatever reason) more than the 'usual' human quota (whatever that is), I believe a relationship is made with the pain, almost a loving one. Perhaps to cope? I don't know, I've felt it but I've never understood it.
In any event.. this picture is beautiful. I love the simple elegance of the lines, an the incredible emotion you've managed to communicate.

I do admit that some how, sadness is more (mind thinking) attractive than joy. Other than love, I am more interested in the sad and love pictures more than people being happy. Although, I mostly draw pictures of happy things and fairies, I guess it's because I know what's behind it all. I am getting more and more into thinking of doing sad images. I love how you drew the body and the emotion into the picture, it all flows together. *nods*

I love the way you get the situation of the woman on paper. I think a lot of women feel like this sometimes. And I think you should be proud on the shoe, because she don't bother anything, that she doesn't even care that her shoe falls of. I really like your picture!

to one of the artists above me, sometimes, some of those who crave pain don't do it to cope, they do it to make sure they can still feel, because they become afraid that there's no more emotion in them. (Personal experiences)

This is absolutely perfect. Its like shes come home after a party or what not and she realizes how utterly alone in the world she is. The porportions are wonderful. the fact that the shoe has fallen to the floor just shows even more that she is not perfect.
