SciFi and Fantasy Art: Lady MacBeth

Inspired by an old painting I saw that I thought sucked. So I did my version. :) I drew this in History class while not taking notes for extra points in English class, since we're reading MacBeth. I put my favorite lines of hers next to it. Yeah. My paper sucked and wouldn't let me erase much.

The original painting was done by John Singer Sargent a master painter, of Ellen Terry playing Lady Macbeth. I think that you would benefit from studying his works to avoid a flat appearance. It is just an edited copy you can do so much better!

How can you write of Sargent as "Sucking" when you obviously know nothing about his work or art history?

I love your rendition of Lady Macbeth (of course, that's partly due to the fact that I was lucky enough to get to play her in my high school's production of 'Macbeth' 12 )She's absolutely beautiful, I always pictured her younger-ish like that. And she's not evil, ya'll, she's just ambitious 10

You may pass Sargent's work off with hardly a backward glance, but first imagine how it makes you sound. To flatly reject a painting done by one of the masters, without having any insight to the piece or subject, shows ignorance on your part. Sargent was a wonderful artist, and you would be wise to consider his work again.

People, she _did_ say that the sucking-ness of the picture was just what she thought. The drawing doesn't look flat to me, either. I wish _I_ could draw cloth folds like that.
Squee, those are my favourite of Lady Macbeth's lines too. Especially "Come night/ And pall the in the dunnest smoke of Hell"

I have to agree about the suckingness/Sargent thing, but it IS a really good drawing.

In a fourth year seminar "Politics of Shakespeare" at my university (it was for honours BA students in Political Science or Great Books/Liberal Studies and Masters Students in Political Theory...why would I write this?) the prof insisted that the Macbeth's had, probably, the best marrriage of any Shakespeare couple and maybe of any example in literature. That was really weird because he is a super right-wing devout Catholic sort of guy. Anyhow, by the end fo the semianr I agreed and hope that one day I will be involved in a relationship as deep and evoted as the Macbeths. hopefully not as devious, though.

It's wicked that you gave her the crown. Mr. McB is a weakling.
