| 14 Sep 2004 | Emily Heather Brown | Beautiful!!! Absolutely beautiful!!! I love the colours you used, it gives a nice touch! Audrey S. Totire replies: "Thank you. I like to use colors as opposed to staying black and white *S*" | |
| 15 Sep 2004 | Lee Elizabeth Pike | Amazing skills with the coloured pencils, you have created a powerful portrait. And I can totally relate on the colour! Why hold back ;D Audrey S. Totire replies: "Nope!---but my one drawback is I have over worked or muddied color by adding too much. But still fun to get crazy with color. Thanks!" | |
| 27 Nov 2004 | Kati Bxx | This is so lovely! Amazing how you could do that! I'd really be interested to try a self portrait myself but I think I've got to improve a lot... but yours is so wonderful *sighs* Audrey S. Totire replies: "YOu should go ahead and try to do a self portrait. Improvement is something we ALL can use. I believe that a real artist is never completely satified with what he/she's done but continues to proceed with the next project in hopes of improvement. Try and do not get discouraged if you don't like the results. Thanks!" | |
| 24 May 2005 | Kamille Freske | thats beautiful! Its really lovely the way you mixed all the colors together. The expression is lovely too. YOu did a great job on the facial features. I find noses the hardest thing to draw, but you draw yours so realisticly. Well done! | |
| 28 Oct 2005 | Karin van Zon | What I really love the most is how you used all those different colors to create a realistic skin tone. I'd like to try that myself one time, but I suppose it takes a lot of practise Awsome pic! Audrey S. Totire replies: "Color theory is helpful. The variety of colors keeps the picture from looking too flat. Thanks for your comment " | |
| 3 Feb 2006 | Stephanie S. K. Marbach | Wow, the skills of the coloured pencils are just amazing... I love it, and her hair !!! | |
| 18 Feb 2006 | Collinsaround | Wow, get over it Audrey S. Totire replies: "Get over what? This is part of a tour called "Twisted Self portraits" so I'm not REALLY an angel. Just maybe a little twisted " | |
| 25 May 2006 | Barbara J. Wickham | I had a painting class where the instructor forbade any form of black paint in his classroom. It was the best art class I have ever had. I love studying drawings like this where there are worlds of details going on within the main subject. I find myself leaning towards the monitor to get a closer look at the shading on the face and the colored strokes in the hair. When I try this kind of technique it just ends up looking messy. You have quite a knack for it! Also...you make a very convincing angel. Audrey S. Totire replies: "I think other people might have a difference in opinion on that! I know there are some styles of art where the use of black is necessary, but after I was taught that rule, for pictures like this one (colored pencils), no black. I also cringe is I see someone using pastels and they use black. It won't be long before the black smears into the bright colors and ruins it. I haven't used colored pencils in a while and I really should play with them again, but I mainly just cross hatch lightly to get the effect that I want --Thanks!" | |
| 30 Oct 2006 | Lauren Akarit | Such an expressive picture! I love the use of color - working without black definitely makes it more vibrant Audrey S. Totire replies: "Thanx! I haven't touched the colored pencils in a while and incidently I'm taking an Illustration class and the assignment called for colored pencils so I had to dig them all up again. " | |
| 9 Nov 2007 | Denise 'Kiandra' Guinn | wow...just wow. I wish I could use pencils like this. It's beautiful Audrey. | |
