| 14 May 2004 | Brian L. Husted | Thanks for giving us this other angle. It really shows off the details in your hands and you see more of the pose. This really is wonderful work. Audrey S. Totire replies: "Thanks, Brian.... I couldn't decide which pic to use. One emphasised more of her body and the other emphasized her face and wings better." | |
| 14 May 2004 | Wendy Bittnerová | The detail of the hands and feet are nice too...did you make the wings or buy them? I've seen some sculptors who use a very thin layer of translucent polymer clay over a wire frame to create really delicate wings...some paint the wings with glitter or opalescent paint. I also like the way you have taken pics of your sculpture in the foilage. I look forward to seeing more of your sculptures! Audrey S. Totire replies: "The wings sort of plagued me. I first attempted to make wings with wire and nylon. It was very clumsy. I had went to a hobby shop and grilled the owner about materials I could use. Nothing learned except the proper paint I should use. I went to the craft store and bought cheap angel wings. I stuck two sets together and bent them to look more like butterfly wings then added some paint. Two purposes--to add color and strengthen the nylon, kind of like when you get a run in your stocking, put clear nail polish on it. I would like a better method of making wings. I think I would LOVE to try what you are describing. Thanks!" | |

| 25 May 2006 | Barbara J. Wickham | Lovely work on the form and embellishments! I have some polymer that has never made it out of the packaging because I am an absolute coward. *cringe* However, with every wonderful sculpture I see, the braver I get.
Thanks for sharing all that you learned during the creation of your pretty fairy. My only remaining question is did you use any kind of framework for the figure under the clay or did you just build up the figure with clay only. | |
