SciFi and Fantasy Art: Clay Uni- Pic2

A different angle of my unicorn. This whole process of building its frame, working the clay and baking it took me only a couple hours to do.

It's nice to see you branching out into sculpture...this is my favorite piece!

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "Thanks...--It's a passion that I have had for a long time but haven't persued it. I have to say that I am so glad that polymer clay was invented. A very simple medium to work at home with."

Yaayyyyyyyyyy Sculpture!
Lovely image, and I must agree, polymer clay is a delightful medium.
Nice Equine anatomy work.

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "Thanks!---I've learned a bit more everytime I try this. --getting the wire framework right is important and if anything I probably would have elongated the torso region, but what's done is done."

I like this view better than the one before, definetely. The red definetely gives it a magical touch. Keep it up! ~Laura

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "I think I used a satin nightgown out of desperation of getting the proper background. Thanks!"

Really nice! I have looked at lots and lots of pictures of horses, and so I can confidently say that the anatomy is good enough to be from a photo. I love the way the white unicorn stands out against the dark background, and how the fetlock falls only to one side. The pose, too, is great, especially that raised front leg, and the whole of it strikes a wonderful silhouette. ^^ Lovely.

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "Thanks! I found it hard to take a picture of that looked right. This one is far from perfect being one of my first attempts with these clay models. "

*bows* amazing work...I'm trying to do a uni sculpture right now but I'm having trouble with the hind legs...nothing I put in them seems to support the body....

I bow before your talent *bows again*

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "I am not an expert at polymer clay and there is much I can learn from. Here's my link --you can see the frame I build for the uni. http://www.geocities.com/at_werks/index.htmlAnother thing that is good to know is that you can bake the clay more than once (like start with a layer to use as a solid frame, bake it and build over it and bake it again. Good luck and thanks for your comment!"
