SciFi and Fantasy Art: Happiness

June 18, 2004. I found a piece of scratch paper and started drawing, and this is what I got. Expressions are fun, it doesn't matter if she isn't shaped like Twiggy. Her laughter should be penetrating (just had to say that...I kind of expected someone to come along and point out she doesn't look like a Barbie doll). //Sept. '04 Please visit <href='http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/libr/m/a/mariethorsen/mariethorsen.html' target=blank>Marie Thorsen's </a> library and read <href='http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/libr/m/a/mariethorsen/mariethorsen.html' target=blank>'Fat Fairies Fly'</a>. Since I have gotten some interesting comments on this one since it got Mod's choice, I think it is important to remember that it's better to be happy with one's self than to be overly concerned about what everyone else sees as a flaw. Marie's story is a reminder of this. There is nothing unhealthy about being happy :)

I started to laugh when I saw this picture, she looks so happy. I don't think she cares one bit that we are wataching her bathe. She is going to keep a grin on my face for the rest of the day. Good job!

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "That's one of the things I love about the faeries is there is very little that they are ashamed of.--Thanks I am glad that I made you smile...I think in these days we really need something to spread it around 2"

Lol, this just made me laugh, I absolutely love her expression! It goes great with the flowers and the mood of the drawing. And I'd just wish people could appreciate great art for what it is and represents, wonderful job! 1

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "I'm glad you like her. I get some of the most interesting comments from this picture. Thanks!"

Fabulous! How can anyone look at that picture and not smile!? And I love her wings, they're beautiful.

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "Thank you. Actually her wings are not my favorite part. I wish that I had done them differently. "

I like this happy picture but I don´t like when people are saying things like: "Real women got curves!" and stuff like that cause then you´re telling every girl that isn´t big that she´s not a woman...That´s sad...Well anyway I agree with the artist6eing happy isn´t about being beautiful, being beautiful is about being happy!

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "I can agree with you that a real woman shouldn't be judged by her shape. I'm not shaped like her so I would be making a statement against me in that case 2--thanks for your comment. "

I love this! every bit of it. I can feel the happiness flowing from her. I'm so glad I took this tour.

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "I am glad that you are glad that you took this tour! Thanks for leaving your comment--it made my day 2"

hahaha I love her I'm proud of her. Good lord who cares if you're 300 pounds or 90? as long as it's healthy it's fine. And happiness is beautiful

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "Amen to that! Thanks for commenting!"

well, most women don't look like barbie dolls(thank god)that's what's wrong with the world today everyone trying to be perfect. Beauty is not perfect, by anymeans.

I have to say something about this picture... It's so funny... she looks so happy and she is so singing in a high pitched opra voice.

I have a complaint for the people who say it's unfair to say that only curvy women are real women.

Skinny women are real women aswell as the larger ones... but how many large women do you see on elfwood? In a ratio skinny women outnumber large women 100 to 1... so when a picture like this comes up... it is highly commended.

Good picture.

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "Thanks for your comment. I find it funny how this one picture makes such a big stir and all it is is a picture. The comments I have gotten prove that I did something right in drawing it whether it is found by others to be likable or disturbing 2"

A smile is the best looking *curve* on any woman.

Drawings like this definitely need to be seen. I didn't have examples of beauty like this one when I was growing up so I never felt like my fuller figure was beautiful. I know better now but it's still nice to be reminded.

Thank you so much for sharing this vision of loveliness.
