| 14 Oct 2004 | Wendy Bittnerová | So sad...I know what will help...let's get them a Big Mac, Fries and a Coke...Have a Coke and a smile baby! *grins* No...seriously this is very sad...I'm not sure what else to say...sad was what you wanted and you did a great job! Audrey S. Totire replies: "I hope I managed to make this sad. I like trying to push my characters to be expressive, but HEY--I'll go for McDonalds!...Maybe have some CHOCOLATE!! Then again there are some poeple who actually like being sad because they don't know any other way to feel. That's what these characters are supposed to be. Thanks for stopping by!" | |
| 13 Nov 2004 | Holly | Beautiful picture. It reminds me of a not so happy past. Any picture that evokes strong feelings is wonderful. | |
| 14 Jun 2005 | Jasmin Islam | *laughs at Wendy* I don't think they're hungry. The most fascinating aspect of this picture is the caricaturish style, I find. It implies a sense of humour to this picture, a kind of mockery which makes tones down the harshness of the situation and brings out a tender kind of irony ... I hope that made sense ... Because what you replied to Wendy Lawson, that these people enjoy their despair, is suggestive of irony to me. They do say that grief is indulgence ... Audrey S. Totire replies: "That's a very good observation. Depression is a serious issue and I think far too many people suffer from it. It's hard to help a person climb out of the hole so to speak. When I drew this I was feeling down myself. By drawing this I helped myself to climb out of the hole of depression. Maybe I should add here that it is a good thing to know our emotional outlets best so we can help ourselves. Thanks!" | |
| 3 Feb 2006 | Stephanie S. K. Marbach | This pic is very impressive... The sad face of the sun and the bodies of the people that reminds one of death - very very well captured feelings in this... Well done!!! | |
| 30 May 2006 | Barbara J. Wickham | Misery loves company... What struck me first is the beautiful pencil work on the figures. Even though they are both emaciated and meant to look desolate I find them oddly appealing simply because you did such a fine job on the anatomy and pose. I am slightly disturbed that I think this but I can only assume that it is the artist in me that sees it that way. *sigh* What I feel about the content is a little bit of pity mixed with frustration because I know that these two have what they need to find their way out of despair but they refuse to put it to use. You have a way of producing thought-provoking pics. Do you find it interesting to see what different ideas folks come up with? | |
