SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Mad Hatter (with a little green faerie)

I made this for Bifrost's " Mad Hatters On Parade" Tour. I thought my Mad Hatter should induldge himself in something other than tea so he drinks absinthe--I did that because I wanted a fantasy element of a green faerie in there *S*. So the fun part is that I went through my files and added all the different objects swimming around him. My son appears twice in a marching band above Mad Hatter's head (part of a parade, eh?!) I appear in the picture twice can you find me? A guinea pig? A boxer named Duke (easy)? A recent polymer faerie that I submitted into EW? My wooden figure doll? have fun with it! (June 28, 2006...Photoshop... all pictures and media taken by me and belong to me )

This may be my favorite drawing for Mad Hatters on Parade. I love his expression and the swimming images behind him. It definitely give the effect of being high on something. It is quite appropriate as I believe everyone in Alice in Wonderland is high on something.

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "Thank you! I have to say if it weren't for Photoshop I wouldn't know how to finish this picture (yuck! draw all that background detail!) I had a lot of fun with it!"

Absinthe! I love this. Yeah, tea is overrated. Unless, of course, it's not really tea.

I love the psychoticness of this... all the swirly colours... it's really a trip. Beautifully done!

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "I was afraid if I did some crazy guy in a hat, EW wouldn't accept him, so that's why I chose to add a green faerie to the picture. You could say that absinthe is his cup of tea!...Never tried it but funny how long ago it was supposed to be cheap to consume but it sells now for like @$200 a bottle. Thanks for your comment!"

You Mad Hatter is so much fun! The perspective is great, it's like he's coming out of the page. Your gallery is wonderful, so many different styles and mediums.

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "Thank you! I get bored if I stick to one medium so change is a good thing 2"

My favourite part of this picture? The Hatter's ultra-cool sideburns ^_^ Great drawing as always, Audrey!

1 Audrey S. Totire replies: "*Chuckles* but of course! I tried to get my husband and son to grow 'em like that and they just wouldn't!THanks!"

He's gotta be Irish.

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "Could very well be. I don't see why Ireland can't have Mad Hatters! 2"

Even though it's obvious he's completely sotted I must admire this dashing chap's efforts to maintain an appearance of complete dignity. ~*sniff* What, what. I say! Would you be a good lad and set us up with another go-round? Jolly good!~ *lol*

I find your Mad Hatter to be the most charming one in the parade, but I don't envy him the hangover he's gonna have in the morning. *moan*

I finally found the guinea pig! Yay me!

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "*heehee*--I've never tried absinth--only heard about it's effects. But Yea! for you for finding Edith the guinea pig. At the moment she's expecting another litter of guinea piglets probably in less than a month. Thanks for stopping by with a fun comment--I'll have to take the Mad Hatter tour sometime soon 2"

You did such a great job on this guy. I love, love, love his expression! Smiles - Wendy

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "Thanks!--I really liked this particular project--it was lots of fun. I think it was your idea?"
