SciFi and Fantasy Art: I am the sorceress studying late

This is my 100th piece to my gallery (*throws a party~yea!*). What I will do now is remove old work that I don't like and replace it with new stuff....This piece I did for my art class I am currently taking. It isn't really completed. My directive is supposed to be different self portraits in watercolor. This one wavered the rules, as I portrayed myself as a romanticized image --I guess that would be from the Victorian style. I borrowed the dress from a John William Waterhouse painting (in my photograph I was wearing a sundress that wouldn't have worked). It was nice being able to use my school work for my Elfwood gallery.

Is that... wha... could it be...
watercolors? I'm taking an art class, and watercolor is stubborn! I don't know how you did THAT with water color. That does deserve mod's choice. I'm gonna haveta give out two awards today. If you've got know Idea what I'm talking about, I'll tell you. It's an award I made up for someone with an absolutely AWESOME picture about a week or two ago. so now you (and someone else) get the

~Zyx the missing award of coolness.

Use it well.

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "You are right and unfortunately I have a terrible habit of overworking my watercolors. This one got a lower grade in the class than my other work which I won't dispute at all--But hey! I am honored to receive your award of coolness *jumps up and down waving around my new award!* Woo-hoo!!!"

the first thing I saw was her sereen face and the pretty dress, then when I look better I see to many lovely details! *calls a moderator* this one deserves a mod's choice, at least that's my opinion, I love it 1

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "Oh geez, moderators have so many things to choose from, but I appreciate that you suggested that! Thanks so much!"

I like the contrast between the sweet girl and the skull... Nice pic and congratulations with your 100th piece of work!

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "Thanks for making first comment! Well the sweet girl is me *L* and the skull...well, that was Yorick...I knew him well *evil grin*"

Wow, beautiful work Audrey. This really shows a lot of emotion. I continue to be impressed and inspired by all of your amazing artwork, you are truly gifted.

Congrats on reaching 100, I will be sorry to see some of your works go bye bye, but it will be worth it if we get to see more like this.

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "I have a lot of room to improve on! Thanks for coming --and celebrating the 100th *L*"

WoooT 100 pics, good work, and i must say it a fine addition to your gallery.

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "Thank you!---I started this gallery about 6 years ago (I've removed and replaced some things) so it's taken me about that much time to fill it."

Hey Audrey, congrats on your 100th pic! I'll be surprised if this doesn't get a Mods...it has so much feeling...and your use of color is lovely, as always. I can just see you sitting up and studying. Great pic! *smiles*

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "Yahhhh... So many woodchuck facts to find and the night is young yet *LOL* ....I don't expect Mod's choice--I see all kinds of mistakes on it. --I'm glad I got some great comments on this though. Thanks *S*!"

Woooooooooow! I have honestly never seen watercolors done like that before. The whole composition is beautiful, and I feel like I could stare at it for hours. Her (your) pose is very peaceful and relaxed, just right for a night of study. The gold details on her dress sleeves are just amazing. It's a rare picture that makes me feel like I want to jump into the frame, but this piece make me wish I was siting there, studying with her.

By the way, did you notice when you were painting it that the shadows on the curtain look like fairy wings? 2

:-) Audrey S. Totire replies: "Faerie wings? that's cool that you see that. Before I chose this pose I thought of actually making myself a faerie. Thanks for a great comment! "
