SciFi and Fantasy Art: Let's Play!

Give a dog a halo and all he wants to do is play catch! :)

This is my submission for the Bifrost project Not Your Ordinary Angel. My feathered canine friend here represents the unique innocence, unconditional loving nature and endlessly frolicking spirit of our special animal companions. How empty our lives would be without their fuzzy presence. *huggles*

I dedicate this pic to all the awesome folks who take time out of their own busy lives to help animals. To all the people at vet offices, pet stores, animal shelters, rescue groups, animal protection services and to all the responsible pet owners and caretakers who make sure these special beings are properly cared for, protected and loved, YOU ARE ALL MY HEROES! May your lives be blessed with the kindness and love that you have so selflessly given to others. *hugs!*

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, 1869-1948.

Aw, I love this picture. He's so cute and fluffy and I just want to hug him. I especially love the ears... the wings are great too.

11 Barbara J. Wickham replies: "Thank you! I guess I really couldn't go wrong with a subject like this, eh? *lol* Drawing the wings wasn't so bad, but coloring them really took its toll! Whew! I can safely say that this cute pup was well worth the effort. I love the ears too. I couldn't resist doing the one ear up/one ear drooping thing. It's such a classic mutt look. Tee hee!"

This dog is so pretty and playful. I like the wings, and his eyes are so innocent.

1 Barbara J. Wickham replies: "I like to think that this pup holds all the sweetness and playfulness of all dogs. Even dogs who don’t know how to act nice have an angel-dog inside them just waiting to get out.

Thank you for your sweet comment!"

awr, it os so cute! i love it! i want to have him as mine! he looks so playful and has this innocent look as if he "hasnt" done anything xD all pups are like that. they give u the puppy dog eyes and u cant be angry at them or think that they have done something wrong. at least that is waht my dog does and soon i find that he broke my bag xD well done on this pic!

:-) Barbara J. Wickham replies: "No dogs are born bad; they are made that way by bad people. I wanted to capture the essence of all dogs and what is in each one of them. This unfortunately only shows on the outside when the dog is treated properly and that is not as common as I would like. I could never get mad at a dog. Whenever they do something "bad", there is always a human to blame. I have been guilty of this myself, so I hope I don’t sound too preachy.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I’m so glad you like my pooch!"

18 Barbara J. Wickham replies: "Don’t ever be embarrassed to play. *grabs tennis ball in mouth and rolls around in the grass* We can learn a lot about the importance of play from our furry companions.

Thank you for your playful comment! *lol*"

18 Barbara J. Wickham replies: "Thank you, Christina!

I can’t resist floppy ears, but I especially love it when it’s just one. Give your pup a scitchy-scratch from me!"
