well As a fellow martial artist I agree with your friend because martial arts is like a dance and can be very graceful if you look at wushu you will very munch agree with me.Wushu is very graceful too look at but is full of bs moves that noone would use in real life. why it just doesn't make sense to jump up in the air and sip five million times and to do one kick yah it looks cool but if the move looks to good to be true it probably is,I donot say that wushu cant defend themselves but they wont be using their bs moves and they know it as well.Any ways martial arts is more about protecting life then taking lives.True the moves have the intent to kill but the other intents of it are far more better then the evil ones it helps build ballence, grace, stamina, and is a healthy practice all in all martials arts kicks ass
