| 1 Aug 2001 | Anonymous | Consider adding detail and color to your art. You know... I haven't quite figured out if I like this comment yet... I mean, it IS constructive, so I certainly thank them for that; however, I've been waiting for a REALLY long time for someone to comment on this one and I was hoping it'd be a bit friendlier than that. Oh well. It's a comment and that makes me happy enough. ^_^ I usually do color my art... as for the detail... what more can I do? | |
| 3 Aug 2001 | Anonymous | Well hey, this is my first Elfwood comment ever. I really do enjoy your drawing style. The subtle anime influences meshing with your own creative styles make for a very visually appealing composition. Specifically about this drawing though, the simplicity is what makes it aesthetic and nicely done. The boy ( Hermes )has a nice gestural quality to him and the eyes are gorgeous. Very adorable. The pose is natural looking ( save maybe the foot of the leg extended into the air. it may be the way the scanner picked it up that makes it seem awkward, and if this is the case, then ignore this critical point )and your decision to keep the boy nude I think makes your drawing a more valid representation of "classic Greek/Roman" art ( as opposed to if you would have censored yourself by adding a chiton to the boy or something to that extent ). The nudity is done tastefully. What I find most interesting about this drawing ( and with some of your other work as well )is the fact that you combined the older "classic Greek/Roman" sense of style with the more modern style of "anime." Your drawing comes through in a manner that this hyrbid technique didn't seemed forced or anything. It just nicely flows throughout the composition.*eyes tear up* I love you... | |

| 5 Dec 2002 | Elizabeth Cook | I'm going to add this guy to my Hermes tour. He looks so dreamy-eyed. | |
| 15 May 2003 | H D Leonard | You know, I could have sworn I'd looked at every single picture in your gallery, however browsing it today I've come across numerous pictures I can't remember. This one I love, he's got such a wonderful, dreamy expression. Which boy is he thinking of. He must be thinking of a boy.
I read the first comment and all I can say is "bah!" Actually I can say more than that. Your drawings don't need more detail, that's your style and I love your style as it is. If you add more details they'd get frightfully cluttered and it would detract from the main subject of the image. As for colour, well I did a five minute colouring job on this pic (okay it was longer than five mins but it looks like a five min colouring job it turned out that bad, I'm sooo out of practice).
Anyways it's a lovely pic. | |

| 16 Mar 2008 | "Mercury" Jones | Absolutely beautiful drawing of Hermes! You’ve perfectly illustrated how I imagined him to look like, beautiful and childlike. I love how innocent and dreamy his eyes look and how he has a small, angular face somewhat like a fairy. I love his pose too. So cute and just adorable. I love how it has a little anime and your own style mixed in with it. Hermes is my favorite mythical god. He looks so innocent yet he’s so mischievous, and I love that about him. He reminds me of me and the funny thing is is that I’m a Gemini. My friends say that I’m just like him. I take such pride in being a Mercury girl. The way you’ve illustrated him shows his dual nature; looking and acting innocent one moment, then acting mischievous the next. Your drawing heightens my pride in being Mercurial. Keep drawing. You are truly gifted. | |
