SciFi and Fantasy Art: I Don't Know...

I wanted to do something DARK with these colored pencils, to put a light source in front of a face but behind the hand. When I sketched this up, my wife asked ' who's that, US...'. I don't see the resemblance, but some who know us may. 11 x 14 colored pencils, with the blade, glow on the ball and most of the black background finished digitally...

...I agree with Al 100%. Why the heck did we get you started on this colored pencil trip? And oh yeah...dude you are ugggllllyyy 1 All in all this is another impressive piece of work. I am not to fond of the digital re-work which have been properly commented on above so i woill not bother. I love the blending of the faces and your overall color selection. It appears that the concept of layering is becoming more and more appealing to you.

Thanks Dell, I think *smiles*. The layering is still far from my grasp, This was done with 4 - 5 colors, skin tone, shadow, white and lots of black. I put the color down hard and solid then mixed them togeather like paint with more skin tone, which didn't allow for much detail since I spent a lot of time scrubbing color, but I like the blended effect. Had to add the detail with my trusty pencil. I got lazy and decided to finish the black & knife blade with the computer since I had to scan it anyways. The original looks like a mess, all unfinished edges and hand prints...It was fun and you guys taught me a lot, but it's a lot of work. I have a new respect for the work you do, this is a hard, time consuming medium and I don't think I have the patience, all that kidding about my looks when I was a boy I guess....he he...Thanks, buddy.

Eep, it looks like they are a cross between vampires and aliens. That's some great rendering though. PROfessional stuff.

fox and scully after the abduction! - something about the pose i think - although also a bit reminiscent of clockwork orange - like a remake of it on some other world or something ... ~12
