SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Amazon

This picture was done in my senior year of highschool. I added into my portfolio for admitance to Illinois State University art program. It helped me gain early admission. Sorry it took so long to actually post it. The picture was created using the 'window method' where one takes a picture and sections it off into squares. On the drawing paper you create the exact grid though now you can make it larger or small to blow up or shrink the picture. Draw one square at a time and it helps you maintain detail and correct proportion. The picture I looked at was a photograph from an Herbal Essance magazine. I blew it up much larger and added puma markings. The entire piece is done using a standard ebony pencil and eraser. I call it 'The Amazon' because I could imagine her running through the tropical forrest. She has that wild look in her eyes and that smirk that just seems to be hiding a vicious set of fangs. Wouldn't want to meet her alone in the forrest.

Wow this looks great. I really like the lips and the hair, they look very realistic. Keep on drawing!

nice, somehow reminds me a character from Hellsing (the manga, not the anime).

I think you mean 'jaguar' markings. In the wild cats, the pupils are round like ours, not slits. Even in the small ones like ocelots and bobcats. I Really do Like the slit pupil in this pic though, because it makes the lady look more striking. This is a Gorgeous portrait.
