SciFi and Fantasy Art: Flying Dragon

Somebody requested a colorful flying dragon, so here it is. This is all real work, no digital funny stuff. I used Mars Stadtler Watercolor Pencils on Bainbridge AlphaRag 4ply Ebony

I like the crosshatch style used here, and dragon's just plain cool!
Thanks

This has to be my favorite, although the Woman with Spear gives it serious competition. The contrast in the original is what intrigues me most... the colored pencil against the black AlphaRag absolutely glows. Awesome ! now if it just scanned that way...
Yes, well, nothing scans quite like it looks in life. More's the pity.

the strong outline against the front of the dragon bother me a little...but it's not a big deal when compared to the rest of the picture! wow! *giggles* the body really -does- glow...
Yah, that real strong line is an artifact of the scanning process, I wish it were gone myself.

Brent, that is a scary dragon to an elf, but to me it is a good picture.
Love you Jon-E man! All you people in Elfwood better watch out for this kid, he'll have a 50 image professional quality galley put up the Minute he turns 14! Luckily, you all have 7 more years to prepare for that day...

You know, it looks like smokes curling from his nostrils the way u blended w/ the moon. very modern and kewl. lovin the tail, tongue sorta weird, but hey- i aint seen no dragon *sigh*
Don't worry about not seeing any dragons, just go ask BB Anna where she finds hers...

Very nice. I wish I had half that much control over my watercolor pencils.

I love the intensity of this picture. The dragon could be preparing to swoop down on an unsuspecting village and devour a nice little meal. I especially love the wings. Namaste.

Wonderful! I love this style of color! The colors that were chosen for this piece are fantastic and really set off the piece from the rest of the dragons throughout Elfwood. I am the owner/webmaster of Fantasy-Emporium.Com and we are currenyl having a great 3 month contest that I think you would do pretty good at! Theres a chance to win quite a bit of money for an up and coming artist as yourself. Feel free to stop by!

The COLORS! haha! this is absoloutley awesome! I love the wya you mixed colors so that the mixing is visible. It gives it a rugged, kind of sketchy look. It's great!
