I am seventeen year old resident of Seattle, Washington and having been drawing for many a year now now (with close to year breaks or so scattered about). I haven't had any formal art classes. I like pencil, charcoal and oil pastels and I'm starting to play with oil paints. I love fantasy books and most of my drawings are from series I've read (David Eddings, Terry Brooks, Tad Williams, Robin Hobb, Robert Jordan, J.R.R. Tolkien, Terry Goodkind, and a lot of others). In my spare time, of which there is little, I like to go to shows (music, movie, whatever), snowboard when in season, draw, read, play sax or guitar, etc.

Fifteen years old, and I am stupid. LOL. J.R.R. Tolkien (didn't put the e and the i right did I? I before E except after C or something ..) Anyway, no art classes? I've lived in them, and my work still looks like smooshed pineapples. Bravo.

    Hoorah Washingtonians...

You're good with shading and you seem to have a great grasp of how to portray the form of a 3D person in 2D. You know how hair should flow, what a nose should be drawn like from this angle or that, how the curve of a cheek of chin looks, how to make eyes look alive in stead of glassy, and you do a great job of making it look real, substantial. Keep working at it- only thing I can suggest is working on getting everything to fit together, getting it all proportional. But you're awesome at using shading to define certain shapes- a cheekbone or the shape of a throat.

I for one used to avoid drawing humans until I discovered all those circles and lines they tell you to start with in art classes and how to draw books actually do help with getting features and body parts all lined up, nice and even and symetrical. Lazy me. Never end up with more than detailed sketches anyway. You kinda remind me of me like that...
