SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Flower

This picture defies my every attempt to describe it as anything but A Flower. One has to admit that it has a certain amount of personality, though. Not to mention an unproductive attitude, poor work ethic, bad manners, and unkempt foliage . . . He certainly doesn't come out smelling like a rose, does he? I would guess he's been hanging out with the dandelions too much.

Oh god ... the flowers that used to be my friends (they got mowed down) were never quite this, well, innocently menacing.

... oh dear lord, there's a potted plant in my line of vision and i swear it waved at me... :14uts the plant in the other room:: i _really_ have to stop looking at your work, god knows i won't sleep tonight because of some of your other works.

am i correct in thinking that you are evading those nice men with the warm white jackets that have really long sleeves?

oh, there was a book i read (forgot it's name) where a man was idolizing this very talented artist who drew creatures like yours. now, this artist invited the young man to see where he painted his works of art, and while going down to the cellar ish area the two men heard scuttling sounds, the artist reassured the young man that there was just a rat problem, but told him to keep his gun ready for they sometimes got violent. They entered the cellar and in the middle of the room was an covered easel that the artist said was to be his next release. the artist unveiled the painting and it was a sketch of a monstrosity with a mouth full of teeth that just wanted to rip through your flesh. the man asked where the inspiration was from and the artist said it was a little secret. suddenly there were banging noises from the door and the artist went to the door after the noises stopped. he pulled out his gun and told the young man to stay put, and also that the rats were probably acting up. he left and there were sounds of a scuffle and then a single gunshot, a thump and no more noise. the young man began to worry. He spotted a folded up photo on the floor, that had probably fallen from the canvas. Intrigued the man picked it up and unfolded it. He was horrified

for in this worn photo was the creature, in the same stance as in the sketch.
but the worst part was that the banging on the door started up again

needless to say, that story scarred me (i was what, 11, when i read it?) and your pictures are scaring the hell out of me.

and i enjoy it

:-) Brian Hudson replies: "The story is by H. P. Lovecraft and it's called "Pickman's Model" and yes, I have read it. 1"
