SciFi and Fantasy Art: Dragon Slayer!!

An elf who may or may not be in trouble...I did this to play around a bit with the prismacolor markers I got for my birthday :)

Yay! Wow, the Prisma color pens make a really smooth picture, don't they? It's almost like watercolor. Wonderful job as usual, the details like the stones of the wall are realistic and give a feeling of depth and there is (as there often is) your obsession with bones. Very cool, the elf is expressive and her clothes are great. My only criticism would be that the dragons face somehow, and I'm not sure why, looks flat, like it's a mask. The lady does seem to have one advantage, if the she runs away, there's no way that dragon's body is going to fit through that doorway, but maybe the wall, with all it's lovely bricks is the only thing in danger if that happens. Great job, sorry I can't figure out what it is that makes the dragon's head look flat.Probably a lack of detail is what makes the dragon's face look flat...I didn't spend as much time on it as I should have...I have a fascination with bones? I hadn't realized that...oh well 2

I like the shadowing on the wall of the dragons head and mayhap a bit of shading near the eyes and along sides of the dragons snout would help with the flat look.More than unlikely. It could use a lot of stuff, probably.

Yes yes - go you! Prismacolor markers are SO nice! I should have thought they'd make a great match with your style. 1 Looks great - nice sense of depth. My only picky thing is that the shadows around the dragon seem rather thick - but that could be magic, right? Do more marker stuff!Yeah, I kinda like 'em 2 I had a color set, but they got old and dried up. I hate when that happens. The doorway is indeed very dark, but that's only because the rest of the pic should have been darker. I wussed out again 12

Oh, now he has Prismacolor Markers, too! Isn't HE all mister high and mighty special with his grayscale markers look at him ponce around!? :indignant huff:........... 14ause:...... :breaks out laughing: Sorry, Brian. I just can't keep that attitude up for long. This is REALLY good, and I think for someone that claims to not know what he's doing so often, you really need to stop and look at what you've got here. It's a FANTASTIC piece, and you really should do more with this medium. It suits you VERY WELL.I have no idea what I'm doing most of the time, they're just lucky accidents 12 I really kinda like 'em, and I'll have to use them more often.

My 2 comments about this pic are the dragon and the elfin hair. The dragon (as mentioned before) is a little flat, while the elfins pony is to stiff for her movement.Yup. Happens. I sometimes hit a point where I'm afraid to add the detail necessary, because I don't want to ruin what I've already done. I have several pieces that suffer from that.

Gee another real intresting sport id rather not fool around wid dragons and the other denizens of the classification draconid but thats me some people are into that whole avoid the burst of flame andthe eternal hatred of creature that are generaly not good to po but well more power to emI have no idea what you're talking about, but thanks for taking the time to say it. I'm going to guess that all of that boils down to "you like it" 2

I love the sword that she has. It's very interesting.I play with designs from time to time, to keep myself from getting bored. I used to be better at hilt design. Thanks.

I like some of the little details. Like the crumpled helmet on the floor -- a helmet is not particularly inclined to crumple in such a manner, so it says something about the dragon that caused it to do so. I also like the toothy shadow on the wall. Unfortunately, that toothy shadow doesn't really fit with the positions of the torch and the dragon's head.I pretty much figure that dragons can crumple metal any way they feel like. As far as the shadow goes, you're right. I knew it needed the detail of the shadow, I just didn't get it right.
