SciFi and Fantasy Art: Gargoyle- Colored

Here's a new colored version of the gargoyle. I decided that the other colored version was lamer than lame, so I tried again, and I like this much better. He's got a faintly blue tinge to his highlights because I'm planning on a full moon scene for him, eventually. He still needs a building to grip, and a background!

I used Paint Shop Pro for the base coloring and shading, with Super Blade Pro for the eyes and claws. The texture is from a piece of fossil I got out of a stream bed in North Dakota and scanned on my flatbed scanner to produce a seamless tile- using Paint Shop Pro, of course, to cobble everything together in 7 layers. For some reason, 7 seems to be the number of layers I end up with, a lot.

I like the textures in this piece...can almost feel the skin/stone? One piece of constructive criticism...might be a bit better with some pointy gargoyle ears! Keep up the good work! Jennifer A.
