SciFi and Fantasy Art: Fire

As the title says, Catrin is casting a fire spell. I think that by the time I finished I went for a background pattern for asthetics, as opposed to a real background. *shrugs* Isn't crosshatching fun?

thanks for the insightful comment! That was really just me playing around with a crosshatching style. I think some of the shade lines are in the directions, though. When I decide to get my pens out again, I'll try your method.

Hi! Well I have to say, this is a very good picture. I love her eyes and face is general. The hair look great. The pose is ok.. but Catrin seems a little stiff. You might want to consider adding a little more shading to the background so it balances out with the dark of her clothes. Another thing, when you shade in clothes and put textures in, try to shade in the direction the matterial goes. Curve lines a bit that go across her top.. The texture, I meam. It will give it a more realistic feel, instead of looking like you drew thatched lines over the clothes. No offence taken, I hope? 2

Yes, but coloring would completly eliminate the cross hatching. I like it. It gives a reall depth and texture to the piece (as it's supposed to!) good job on the hair too.

This is a really cool picture. I love how the cape is blowing in the wind behind her, thats a really cool effect you put in there. She is very pretty, and I love the details you put into this picture. Great Job, it's lovely.

Wonder if her tail will catch on fire, and shall she run around screaming for water, or not...
Very good drawing though.
