SciFi and Fantasy Art: Baby Maple Fairy

My daughter and I were out playing in the fall leaves, when she brought me these stunning german maple leaves. I grabbed them and her and ran upstairs to get this idea down on paper! The baby's wings are real seed-pods. (beautiful, no?) I like this one, I think.

4 Apr 2002	Lauren Indvik	Loading... Great concept! Glad you got that idea down on paper. The leaves are stunning and the baby looks so peaceful. Great combination with the photo. Usually people try to make it look as if they drew it by airbrushing over it but the texture would have been lost. Couldn't have been done better.

Creative, innovative, and too cute for words. ^^ I have to agree with the above commentor, that this is somewhat reminescent of that photographer-whose-name-I-cannot-recall, the one who takes all these adorable shots of babies. What you have done here is entirely yours, though, with that faery theme so prevalent in your drawings. I like -- the wings are an especially nice tough.

22 Mar 2003	Shannon* Dorn	Loading... I'm going to guess that the photographer they're thinking of is Anne Geddes, because that's what this reminds me of too! I love the way that you've arranged the leaves in the background, it looks almost like a sort of nest for the baby to sleep in. Very cute!
