SciFi and Fantasy Art: The Princess

The original was done as a small portrait of my daughter. (1st portrait ever!) It was done in graphite on sketch paper. After I scanned it I pulled it into painter and changed it. The original can be found in my gallery.

Very well done and life-like, especially in your highlights and shading of the skin. I agree that you can achieve some amazing detail with mechanical pencils, but anything I do with them often seems too sharp and defined. Here you managed some softness in addition to the detail. Well done.

This is by far your most impressive piece in the gallery. I makes me wonder why I have not drawn my own kids. I guess a fear of failure has always languished in my head. Anyway, you have overcome that and created a darling piece of artwork. You really should be proud, both of the child and the drawing.
Thank you, this is my favorite piece also. But I do have to point out this piece is partly digital. I added parts to the original. As stated above you can see the original at my private gallery, anything you don't see on that was added using the computer. I myself was impressed with the results. The added pieces look so much like the scanned parts that I can't tell where the one stops and the other starts, and I know!!!

This is really cool. The realism is awesome, and she looks all sort of chubby and pampered 2 I love it 2

*laugh* I can't believe no one has commented on her adorable ears yet!!! *grin* Yes, you have done an excellent job with whatever modifications you made - I can't tell where additions are either. It would be nice to see a bit more developed background in this picture in particular... but that's just my tastes 12 You've done a wonderful job with all the shading overall, but especially on the skin - oneday I must learn your tricks 12

Personally, I do not find babies cute or attractive and such, however, I must comment and say that this is exceptionally well done.
I have been drawing for years and was an art student in a family with several artists. I have of late seen disturbingly few people, proportionate to the number of artists works I see, that can do portraits well.
I particularly like black and white.

*giggles* awe isn't she cute.

I haven't been able to master the drawing of babies yet.
I can't seem to get their pudgy faces to look pudgy... trying to master the proportions of adults is easier than babies, I think... you don't want them to look like blobs right!?
She is so cute and she looks so happy. Awesome.
