SciFi and Fantasy Art: Dare to be Different

I drew this for the latest Woodworks contest, and I think it's possibly one of the best things I've done...Yay! This is Vex. He's a fire fairy in the same mould as Sparks (also in this gallery) but was fed up with being the same as his fellows, so set about becoming different. He also determines to act in a way which would shock most self-respecting fairies. And please note, I'm not suggesting at all that what he's doing is bad. It's just his attitude that is... Coloured pencils and ink outline. Back to the old favourites!

So, out of curiosity, is it the fact that he kisses boys that’s shocking to the ’self-respecting’ ones, or is it the fact that he apparently kisses human boys? Either way, he’s one awesome fairy, of either variety. I especially love his facial structure and makeup, his swoopy hair, and his sleeves. ^.^

Going back to the picture, the most impressive part of this picture is, without a doubt, the cheeky look that you gave the woman/elf, as if she’s saying "I know this is wrong, but i don’t care" then winks. I also like the fact even her wings are pierced...
