SciFi and Fantasy Art: Grrr...

Not a lot of background to this drawing.. i found an ad for the marines.. (oh... so THAT's why he looks like he's in pain...:) (jk)) and i wanted to try drawing someone with a facial expression. (more challenging than a straight normal face) :) i used a pencil.. pretty hard.. ( i don't remember the exact hardness but i made a mental note to use a much softer one next time cuz this didn't give me enough contrast) i am, however, pretty impressed with his hair, cuz i generally kinda suck at hair :) if anyone wants to suggest a name for him....

Very well done, IMHO. Facial expressions are hard to do.

This is not to dreact from the picture itself, because the art is well done and so is the shading, but he looks almost like he has down syndrome, er, was a victom of fetal alchohal poisioning

I know what picture you're talking about, but ummmmm........, The dude...is actually a girl. The ad is for girls to join the marines. And she doesn't look like she has FAS.

Not bad shading and facial expression, but I have to agree with the other two.. *wince* Gah.. I know the feeling lol. Im in NJROTC and we have to do a Marine obsticle course (affectionately called the "O" course) which is made of telephone poles (with black acid burning crap still on them) and poles to pull up and over like the one..the person is doing.. The expression is almost perfect IMHO.. It really shows what effort if exerted in it. Good job!

Male or female, it doesn't matter. If it's a Marine, I'd call this pic, "Devildog" for the nick-name the Marines earned from the Germans in WW1 - tefuelhunden (means "devildog" in German). I am in NROTC at the University of Wisconsin at Madsion, Marine option. I've done a full-blown Marine Corps "O" Course; it's awesome (and includes EXACTLY what this Marine is doing). Semper Fi!
