SciFi and Fantasy Art: Random

(uploaded 12/~/00) A few years back I wrote a short play with a smart-alec loner of an angel named Random in it. Although inspired by that character originaly, I modified a few minor points (such as gender) to arrive at this figure. Several fairly significant changes in methodology from my earlier pictures. I used a smoother shading technique, played around a bit with transparencies and refined some of the techniques I use to 'ink' an image. I also added some fairly basic background and framing elements. Originally I had planned on a simple white background, but the wings looked so much prettier against a blue drop. At any rate, I had lots of fun with this one.

18 May 2002	Anonymous	Loading... Did you know there used to be a Happy Days/Mork and Mindy spinoff with the comedian Jimmy Brogan playing an angel named Random? It lasted about eight episodes in Fall 1979. Did you get the name from there? Jimmy Brogan does a lot of stand-up comedy, and was/is a joke writer for Jay Leno's Tonight Show.I vaguely remember the episodes (I was 6 at the time they aired) but didn't get the name from there. I was probably more heavily influenced by Roger Zelazny's Chronicles of Amber at the time. (Zelazny's Random has much the same fashion sense that mine does).
