SciFi and Fantasy Art: Jean-Claude

This is a character portrait of Jean-Claude, master vampire of St. Louis, in Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series.

I sketched the pic on bristol board (the pose is based on a Pre-Raphaelite painting), then inked it and scanned it in. It's colored in Photoshop 6.

I really like how it turned out, even though he does look more sad and feminine than I intended (more fun for the bishie lovers, I guess).

Anyway, here he is. Enjoy!

His face is supposed to look girly...anyway I think it looks wonderful best Jean-Claude picture I've seen yet! I didn't even have to look at the name to know it was him. Very good!

Hello again, I'm going to be making a tour and I'd like to include this picture in it... I hope you don't mind 2

Actually the face is kind of how I imagined he might look in a painting that was done of him and Asher before Asher got scarred. I can't remember the name of the characters they were representing (then again it's 5 in the am and I've had no sleep) but I remember it was a gift from Bella Morte in the book Cerulean Sins.

oh, be still my heart! How could Anita have withstood him for so long. He looks so sad! **stuffs Jean-Claude in a bag and runs away**

Holy freaking cow. This is the best picture I have ever seen. I am like obsessed with Anita Blake and Jean-Claude. the way you depicted him in this pic is exactly like I would have imagined him to be in real life. I don't think I could have done any better myself. keep up the awesome work. Ciao.

WOW. I am new to the Anita Blakes series, but I am already drawn to Jean-Claude, and that picture is exactly the way I imagine him. Way to go!!

Wow! How incredibly gothic! I very much wish i could draw like that. My style is lacking compared to yours. But yes jean-claude has the attidude of the jean-claude from the books he is in.Very well done!

Those are the best JC eyes that I have ever seen. It looks like Jean-Claude. Did you mean for the gap in the lace to look like a bat? Cause that what it kinda reminds me of.2
