SciFi and Fantasy Art: Hera or Waiting for Zeus

This is how I've always imagined Hera. Thin, but not attractive, rather careworn, a nag, kind of haggard....She's waiting up for Zeus here. Probably a good thing they didn't have watches back then. Zeus would be in BIG trouble then.

Hello, folks, it's called artistic interpretation. Even the people who were alive in that day made images of their gods. And some of those early fertility goddess statues were decidedly ugly! And let's not forget that ugliness can be awe inspiring and powerful too. Also, Hera did do some very ugly things (not that she didn't have reason to be angry, but that doesn't necessarily justify her actions) so maybe that's what the artist is depicting here - her inner self.

Back to that whole artistic interpretation thing. If YOU see Hera as ugly, draw her as ugly! You're the artist. I think she actually looks rather regal, despite her twisted features. That actually reinforces my theory above. Her whole inner-self (depicted here by her physical form) isn't ugly, but there are portions of her that have been twisted, probably both by how Zeus has treated her and what she has done to others in retribution. But that's just my theory. 2

Art.... visualized by the artist. On a personal note: I would love to have this hanging in my home. It's gorgeous the way the shading is done. And though Hera is often referred to as one of the most beautiful of the goddesses.... she wasnt on the top of the list. I could ramble out somewhere around ten who were much more attractive. Example: Aphrodite...(Obviously) and what about Psyche? (Aphrodite envied Psyche because of her beauty so she tried to kill her countless times....which in the end, Aphrodite's son ends up marrying Psyche and she becomes immortal and such...but still...) 12
Great work, mate. Keep it up!
Peace-out.

Yes she was very ugly and bland she only married Zeus because he tricked her by turning into a bird and flying in her window. but hey if i was a god in Greek times i would be Hades he has so much more to off in the world of darkness and fire.

I think Hera is totally cool. I think that if she is the goddess of all gods than she has my support!!

I just say Rock on Hera! She's a bit in the same position as Hillary Clinton today, she should have done like her, get back on Zeus by starting her own success story when he was loosing points to Jesus Christ and the other newbies. Senator Hera, that would have been cool!

Hera was the most beautiful of all the goddesses even beating out Aphrodite, large beautiful eyes are her main attraction why do i see bedy little bugs, why else would make her take him into her breast?
