SciFi and Fantasy Art: Arashi Makka

This is the drawing I did for a recent character project I am doing in cooperation with a friend of mine off of Vaxia, Crimson Storm is what her name translates too...or hopefully so, she is an aerial elf. Me and my friend had decided to try and submit a set of characters...fraternal twins at that, whom are blood mages. (they are really fighter-mages type deal) My character aside from the blood magic, also has a storm magic skill, and her primary weapon is Kusari-Gama. Her and her twin also come from the oriental equivilant Shi Inkahan in vaxia. We have high hopes for the pairing, and looking forward to playing them. Anyways, this has been some of my best work in a long time, It was a pencil outline and then colored in photoshop 6.0. I know I still have a lot to improve on, but I say it doesn't look that bad

*first comment rave* WHOOT! that's one of the most interesting oriental elf designs ive found yet, even if it is horribly out of porportion and perspective (no offense, just the truth) you really make me feel better to have found this.

I was doing a search for Vaxian art in Elfwood (since I just started playing there again...) and I came across this. The colours are what initially attracted me, because although her skin is extremely yellowy it's countered by the utterly beautiful crimson of her outfit (and I congratulate you endlessly on the guts to you a colour other than black) and the swirling effect in the background. The design, also, is very original (while happily impractical in all the best RPing traditions)and the pose is very nicely excecuted. The only real problem lies with your anatomy - despite it being a cartoonish character (what anime have any of us seen with realistic proportions?) it doesn't appear to have the fluidity that the pose and style could have given it. The face is set too far back on the neck, meaning it loses its chin somewhat, and the flow of the chain/rope on the weapon should be slightly more in the direction of the hair. That said, its a very attractive peice, and I look forward to seeing you play!

This is an excellent piece. The coloring is lovely, and you did a great job with her weapon. (contrary to the above comment, I would argue that the weight of the chain would really go wherever the weilder puts it, rather than it be subject to the elements) I really like her tatoo on her left arm, and her clothing is kewl, too.

I loooove the colors for this one. I think the other commenters are right about the proportion but I still really like the pic. Pose and color make this stand out.

OMG! I love the detail in the clothing and tattoos. Her face looks cool and I love the weapon. Kudos.
