SciFi and Fantasy Art: Maeve Sidhe

Sidhe is the name that the fairies receive in the Irish mythology. It is said that they are high beings as a current man, of reserved customs and very powerful. Her Queen, Maeve, is so beautiful that for the mortal ones it can be dangerous to look at her. Some legends tell that these fairies are descendants from the ancient gods Tuatha of Dannan, and others assure that they are fallen angels, which were not bad enough to be sent to the hell. This picture is my version of the Queen Maeve, with the forest around her. Done in photoshop.

Ya know I’ve been looking at this picture for little over an hour now,(I guess I’m spellbound), and I think it might actually be for the better if the wings weren’t there. Don’t get me wrong, their beautiful and well done, but I think maybe they detract from the beauty of Mauve. Their so childish looking like a child fairy would have rainbow wings, and then the adults wings would be transparent?? I don’t know, she just looks to regal to have those wings I guess is what I’m trying say, take it or leave it but know that I love it.
