SciFi and Fantasy Art: Just a little bit further...

'...And I'll be free of this world.' the sleek dragon thought as he flew higher toward the darkening sea of stars. 'Just a little bit further.. and I won't have to live with this chaos most call normal. I won't be expected to do things I hate, or hate the things I do. To find a mate that is perfect in any and every way. Or haul the great silver stone to become king. No, I won't have to worry about those things. Just a little bit further...' (*looks on, amazed* say what you want about this fellow, but.. he is the first dragon I've ever drawn like this. I like him.)

UPDATE: He got colored! Ahhh, his wings...his wings.. they were complicated, but i got them to work. *sighs contently and wanders off* New style of coloring here. Used only the airbrush for this picture. Except on his wings, where I used lighten and darken for the shading. Took be 5 hours all together. (for those of you who saw the black and white version, did you like it better?)

Only one comment?! Man... this is great... so elegant, and sad... you can really see how old and tired he is, looking for a place to finally and eternally rest... beautiful black and white piece.

Have you ever, by chance, read the Enchanted Forest Chronicals!?

hehe sofia? are you trying to confuse me by using a different name? heh, anyway, yes, i've read two books of the enchanted forest chronicals! the.. first one, and (i think) the last one. i wish i could find the ones in between. lol. that was like two *thinks* three *rethinks* maybe four years ago. heh. that's what got me into the whole fantasy thing. i've read the last book so many times i've worn the poor cover down pretty bad. heh ^_^

Hey! You commented on my site a while and unfortunately I don't think I've ever been to your site yet. Sorry 'bout that! Well, when I came to your gallery, this was the first pic that caught my eye!(after I had to wait like 9 hours because my computer is slow as hell)I've never seen the black and white version, but I bet it was just as excellent as this version!^_^ This is definitely one of my favorite draggies on Elfwood! I'm going to put it into my favorites.::clicks the little heart in the corner of the window:: ::drop noise:: KUTGW! 14

I love the wings. How'd you get that nifty transparent effect? Great job, as usual. *thbppt*

This dragon is brilliant. I love the way it's body curves. Also, how slim it is is a nice change from the usual chunkified dragons (like mine). Nice work 2
