SciFi and Fantasy Art: Moog

Presenting Sir Grendel Dragonbiter III... or more affectionately known as Moog. He is a Thracian targ, a six-legged guardian beast from Thrax, possessing two primary eyes which have normal vision and three secondary eyes that see into the infrared range. Targs are long, low-bodied creatures that are excellent climbers with their talons and curved spurs.

Although targs are primarily found on their homeworld, a few are illegally exported for blood sports. Jez Shivblade obtained Moog through a smuggler for the purpose of becoming a guardian beast for Shivblade Transport but the beast bonded with her five-year-old son, Jett, becoming his devoted pet and guardian. This saved Moog from being seized by Thracia authorities that were tracking the ring of targ smugglers. They allowed the Shivblades to keep Moog as an offworld pet, provided he was returned to a licensed trag breeder on Thrax during his breeding season every five years.

Now an adult, Jett Shivblade takes Moog with him as backup on cargo runs.
