SciFi and Fantasy Art: St. Elmo's Fire

St. Elmo's Fire is what happens when a person or object is on the highest peak during a storm and the ions rise into them and cause them to glow briefly just before they're struck by lightening.

Also, it's a favourite way of proving love for this kind of modern elf. Climbing to the peak is just the first challenge, the elven pair then embrace and wait for St. Elmo's fire to consume them and lighting to strike. If the love is true, they'll survive unharmed. If they've deluded themselves into thinking it's true when it's not, then they'll die.
