SciFi and Fantasy Art: Into the Light

Ah, fun in a boring class...at least, that's how this one started. Then it took a *long* time to get her background all done. Yes, I know I still have problems with hand size, but I'm working on it.

I *love* this picture! Very littlemermaidthebook-ish! Surprisingly, the swirling colors in the background accentuate her, rather than detract. I don't know what it is...but *that* is a mermaid!

Oh, and...WHHHHEEEEEEEEE! I'm the first to comment!!! I win! 2

:-) Cynthia Rae Abernathy replies: "Hehehe...thanks. You know I'm hearing that sqirrel again with your emphatic "wheeeeee!" 2 Glad you like the background - you know how long it took me!"

Wow, nice job on her tail scales; that must have been a lot of work! The webbing between her fingers is a nice touch! Pretty wild background, too.

:-) Cynthia Rae Abernathy replies: "Hehehe...yeah, it took a lot of time. Though, the background took the longest. The scales are more of a repetitive motion and actually go pretty quickly."

I really like your style of tail on this mermaid... very original and detailed. I like the way her hair flows too. There is just something about the size and angle of her head... it seems a bit small in comparison to the rest of her body, and the features on her face and jawbone are just a bit too awkward. Otherwise I think it's lovely.

:-) Cynthia Rae Abernathy replies: "Yeah, there's definitly a problem with the head. I couldn't figure out exactly what it was to fix it at the time, though."

Hey ya know, i like it! The hands look okay! The only thing that throws them off is her thick, kinda muscally arms. But i really like the background!!
