SciFi and Fantasy Art: Mage!

Is she sheilding herself from an attack or trying to make her way through a dark and forboding place? The Mage fearlessly goes on. I did this one today (4-17-00) when I was trying to watch Lodess Wars but ended up working on this pic instead of watching the show! This is by far my favorite of all of my pics and the one I think I've done the best! I did this completely in charcoal (which I'm normally scared to use cause i'm bad at it)without even sketching first! Only took me an hour too!! I was amazed by how well it turned out! Please tell me your comments on it!

Oooookaaayyy..... I don't understand those last two comments, but to each his own I guess. I really like this one, your shading on her gown is very well done and the pose has some real movement behind it. Of course, I can't really tell if she's going forward or back, but I think it works either way... *wanders off babbling to herself*

I cant believe you stopped watching Lodoss!! *laugh* Very nice picture you have here, I like the gown and the "floating" feel to her. Actually, it looks as if she's trying to go thru the wall than lighting her way through a tunnel...

It's good that you said this was your best, because I was gonna say I thought it was...and ya know why, cause of the shading...the more darks you have the more the lighter areas stand out...do more of this! Also, and many people may get mad...but you have your own style...your anime is good...but I like the originality of your work! To me, and maybe I'm alone here, anime is non-styled artwork...but that's me! Keep drawing!

Wow. I'm never good with charcoal. It scares me and it makes a mess. The shading on her clothes is fabulous. Maychance you'll inspire me to confront my fears... gulp.

Looks like she is opening a gateway into the darkness by peeling off the surface protective layer to it.

Looks to me like she's fertively entering another world of taboo and she nas no fear.

I would say she is collecting something (not necessarily icecream 2 ) The hair and the cloak flows very nicely, although it is a bit strange since for me it seems that a wind is blowing out of a solid wall... Also, I don't think that the sharp lines of the anime face fits very well with the smooth rolling of the cloak and the surroundings. But again, the cloak itself is well done. I like the way you use light and shadow in the composition, too.
