SciFi and Fantasy Art: Mel-Meun's Dragon

This is my first attempt at a dragonette, so let me know what you think. Rough sketch done in pencil. Color first done in colored pencil. Detail to scales, eyes, and outline done in metallic gel pens.

ay! dawn , you didn't say this was your first dragon! now i can appreciate it more, congrats, what you need to remember when drawing them is to imagine them like pieces of string, fluent, fluid , elegant go girl go ! heh he! see ya I do better at drawing string... hehe. Thank you!

Hmm, don't remember if I commented it on woodchat... But anyways. It's really nice for a first try. A lot better than my first twenty drawings of dragons (btw, dwaggie is perhaps even worse than draggie >=))... I like the shape of the head and the detail of the neck, and the horns look nice too. However, the ears makes him look like a horse, and the eyes makes him resemble an insect. Other than that, it's great! =) Thank you! I did this one by staring at this little purple dragon statue that I have, hehe. I didn't really like the ears either after I took a pic of my drawing... maybe I will try to edit them out sometime...

Read the woodchat and came here! Very Cute! I love how he looks so ... innocent! I love his horn! This is a very nice start. Keep practicing, you have wonderful potential! Try getting a whole body in there and everything! Cheers! Thank you very much! I have been working on her body, but, well... lets just say stumpy and lumpy would be complementary, hehe.

I think she's just adorable!(it has to be a she - I don't know why, but she does 2) I think of dragon's attitudes as coinciding exactly with that of a cat. They can be elegant if they want to be, but they can also shed all semblence of dignity for no reason whatsoever - or at least that's how it seems to me. Your dragon's expression reminds me so much of my cat when he wants something. Thanks!!! She does, doesn't she?! hehehe. I really need to get a scanner!!!

I came here by way of the mailing list too. VERY SWEET!!! He is so cute! (*I* think it should be a HE) sooooo cute.Meliathsala (that is her name) is a female of the Royal line, mind-fasted to Mel-Meun when both reached puberty. They are life long friends, were raised together, and will protect each other to the death.
