SciFi and Fantasy Art: MermanI like this one. :) It's a scene from one of my stories in a series about a satyr wandering the worlds of fae and man. I particularly like the way the merman came out. However, the water, such as it is, was incredibly tough, and still came out lousy. Ohwell, back to the ol' sketchpad...
| | | | | Date | Name | Comment | | | 24 Jul 2000 | Christine 'BlackWidow' Landrie | At first I thought the girl was another mermaid and I thought, How is she doing that? Then had a better look and its a tottally different speices. This is great. | |
| 6 Jan 2001 | Cassandra | I must say it is indeed a lovely and expressive picture, BUt ... I must corecte you on a writing error all too common in these woods,... satyr, are male,... not female.. if it is indeed female than it is Faun.! But it is till so lovely and expressive, I guess a small price to pay,...Thank you! However, it's not a writing error. I very deliberately have a female satyr. | |
| 24 Jan 2001 | TC Gail | Faun Satyr...whatever I guess it matters to fans of Herne loving Herla-People *read the Fire Bringer if ya wanna know all about those words an stuff* Anyway, Interesting composition. I love the expression on his face... almost evil if you know what I mean. | |
| 11 Feb 2001 | Stacey Kardash | I love this picture! I too, at first, thought the satyr/faun was a mermaid, but I love the difference in species! You're really good at your merfolk and satyrs, keep it up. | |
| 14 Jun 2001 | Katharine 'KT Desilijic' Larson | Love the Satyr's profile, I suck at profiles... Love the pic in general... But, are they... going at it?? If so, I wonder if she's in her moon or just past it, and if she is, what will the kid look like?Yes, they are going at it. However, in my little fantasy world, I don't think faeries have children in the usual way. I'm not sure how exactly they DO, but it's, just different, trust me. c.c | |
| 12 Oct 2002 | MonkeyBoy | What a nice picture, naturally one needs suspension of disbelief, but as everyone seems confused I'll just say, there are no female Satyr, Satyr seduce human women. A Satyr was a companion of Dionysus in Greek mythology ( better known as Bacchus in Roman mythology ). A Faun is not a female Satyr ( who told you that Cassandra?) A Faun is a Roman creature, similar to a satyr, especially in it's lustful disposition. It may be interesting to know that in Greek mythology Satyr were not necessarily Goat like ( they are beast like creatures ) and were represented with horse features. It was the Romans who sort of superimposed their Fauns with the Satyr. that whole Roman-Greek thing. Also the Roman faun originally had goat horns and tail, and only later evolved goat legs. Having said that, it's your picture, and if she can't be a satyr, or a faun, and if they can't be "going for it" ( and I don't see how they could ) it doesn't really matter. What on earth is the other f word? | |
| 20 Dec 2002 | Me, As In, Like, The Artist | Gee Monkeyboy, not only do I know all that, I CAN'T BRING MYSELF TO CARE.
Go play with your rigidly-defined gender roles somewhere else, plzkthx.
| 10 Sep 2003 | Joshua Hutcheson, Aspiring Artist | Actually, a faun is a young satyr, whether male or female. An adult female satyr is called a doe, just like a female deer. Ummmmmm.... that was unimportant, I probably shouldn't of even said it. | |
| 14 May 2006 | sofia | Hey was up i was looking for merman picture went this pop up, i really like it, however i have a quetion how are they doing it, really. How she got her what ever around hiss body

| 1 Aug 2006 | Anonymous | A doe is a deer, a female deer. Rain a drop of golden sun. Me, a name I call myself. Far, a long, long way to run. Sew, a needle pulling thread. La, a note to follow sew. Tea, a drink with jam and bread. Which brings us back to doe. | |
