SciFi and Fantasy Art: Alexis

This drawing was one of the first that made me go 'Wow, I drew that?' I can't recall what inspired it. I drew very lightly (timidly as my art teacher put it), so I realize it didn't scan so nicely. Oh well. Alexis is a compassionate woman who wields a powerful holy sword. **This is a newer scan. It's slightly better than the old...**

I have to say I love this picture, and not just because of her name. She is strong and confident. Keep up the great work

i don't know how to say this in english: STOER! Neat hi-tech boots, and i like her tough look. "The only way you can pass me, is in a coffin. HA!"

Way cool stance, so realistic, and not-stiff. I like that armor, and the eyes! They are practically always my favorite part of any picture. They look very good here. *grin!*

Looking at this again I realized that I CAN hand out a BIT of constructive critisism.....seeing as how she's so muscular, her right calf should probably be more rounded and muscled..it seems a bit flat....but this is STILL really groovy 10

Okay so, admittedly it's not the best scan on earth- you should see some of my *really* worse ones *g*- but I like it... The pose is just so... classic (not in a bad way, it just brings me memories =) I agree about her right calf tho, but otherwise, be proud =)

Hey...i like the way that the style of drawing here (especially the boots) seems to be sort of bio-mechanical. Nice posture too... Yeah, the boots are cool. I still wonder sometimes about whether they look too "sci-fi" (so to speak) for the midieval look I was going for. Oh well. Thanks!

Hi Sweetie! I think that even when you first started out drawing (like in this picture) you always seem to get a lot of expression in your characters faces. She looks really tough. Maybe Hector should ask her out... wouldn't they make a cute couple? ;o) Hector could try all he wanted, but Alexis (a bona-fide princess) stays away from the barbarian type - too many fleas. Besides, she's married!

Only one thing comes to mind: Kickass armour!!!!!!!!!!!

:-) Patrick R. Derksen replies: "Glad you like it!"

You have a right to be proud of this, it is good. My only critique is the subject seems a little cramped up on the left side of the page. With the moon hanging to the right you might want to tone in the sky just a bit, it may help Alexis stand out a little more.

Keep drawing, and practicing.

:-) Patrick R. Derksen replies: "Cool. Thanks for the advice!"
