SciFi and Fantasy Art: Fairie Flight

I've always liked fairie folk, and have been wanting to include them more in my artwork. Well, I finally found some time to do this drawing (first one in, oh...half a year.) Sorry about the background, I always sort of fudge my way through them...

Wow..I like it... I love the way her legs came out really elegant..but kinda thin. And I do like the background...

:-) Patrick R. Derksen replies: "Yeah, they're thin, but that's sorta my idea of fairies - it's okay for them to be crazy thin; it matches their insect nature. Actually, I guess the guy is not thin enough, now that I think about it."

Awww, what a lovely concept2 i like the way he's looking at her, it's all lovey dovey >_< hehe. and i think it's cool that you can see through their wings! But, their hair is kind of flat, (there is a good tutorial here http://www.rebekahlynn.com/southwind/free/tutorial/hair_tutorial.htm ), shading can be done by just using (sharp)2h and 4h on the shading(2b for the really dark areas) unless you do this already, but if not, it really fixes the shading(hb is too soft most of the time). i like the background, the trees are really cute! Its a really hard pose to draw, i think. and you sure have improved since i last visited2

:-) Patrick R. Derksen replies: "Thanks for the advice! I rushed the hair this time around (usually something I'll spend time on) and I apologize. Thanks for liking the background."

Wow! these drawings are very exciting. I love the action in them and how the women are so sexy and beautiful. You have really done a wonderful job. keep up the good work!
I am a fairy collector my self, do you sell your drawings?

:-) Patrick R. Derksen replies: "I also hold a special fascination for fairies and all the little people - though I don't go around proclaiming this at football games or anything. Thanks for the awesome comments!"

This is an amazing picture! The positions are just.. WOW! ^_^ I can't believe that you managed this position! I wouldn't be able to do it if someone paid me! The shading you did here is also really nice... all of the highlights and shadows fall right where they should be! ^_^ Great job! *snatches picture and runs away*

1 Patrick R. Derksen replies: "Yeah, if someone was paying me I would certainly screw it up. I'm pretty happy with the poses."

This is very nice. Very nice, indeed! ^_^ The shading is awesome, and so are the profiles. ^_~

Yes! Another person that can't do backgrounds! wOOt! Even though your background looks good to me...I like them, they're cute. It's like they're flying over the plains in jubilance, though I can't help think of a musical number, like they're performing. Hmmm...plains......"Oklahoma!..."

11 Patrick R. Derksen replies: "Oklahoma, huh? Well, I'm listening to Everlong by the Foo Fighters, and it seems to fit pretty well."
