SciFi and Fantasy Art: Lori of AlonThe Ladies of Alon are a legendary group of 7 women who possess natural magical abilities far beyond most mortals. They are found and 'recruited' by heralds of Tashtal, goddess of magic. Lori is gifted in 'Botanist' magic, which gives her amazing powers over plants. This is the first in a series of four drawings which will depict the Ladies of Alon. | |
 | | | | | Date | Name | Comment | | | 20 Feb 2002 | Brett Cushing | Very lovely! Actually, I think the best part of this pic is how well you've captured her figure, not erotic, yet very feminine. I also love the leaves on her dress. The statue candle holding thing looks kind of strange, though. Like its coming out of nowhere, it doesn't go with the woodsyness of the rest of the pic. Its cool looking, you should just create more of a setting for it! ^_^ Patrick R. Derksen replies: "Thanks for the suggestion, I might modify the pillar a bit in the future. I'm glad you like Lori though." | |
| 26 Feb 2002 | Gillian Meredith | Wheeee. I like the composition, but I agree with the guy above. Something is weird about mr. candle thingy. Oh well, the rest is neato. I like her pose, and the tree is great. (I really need to learn to draw some backgrounds...) Patrick R. Derksen replies: "Leave me alone about the stupid pillar thing! (don't worry, kids; it may sound like I'm being mean, but Gillian doesn't take me seriously anyway.) Thanks Gillian!" | |
| 8 Mar 2002 | Lisa Ann Eshkenazi | EEP...er...Brett is not a guy.....nope...she's sure not... I like. And oddly enough, I like the candle thingie and I don't think it looks out of place. It makes me think of druids (I don't know why). Beautiful! Patrick R. Derksen replies: "Yay! Somebody likes the candle thingie! I think of that as a compliment even though you refer to it as a candle "thingie" and not a candle "holder"..." | |
| 23 Mar 2002 | Mike Burley | I hate to say this but................ the "candle thingy" is what makes this pic for me ~ it is a bit 2D and needs giving "solidity" but I like the whole concept ~ can I steal this???? ROFL ~ kidding.......... but it gives me an idea......... hmmmmmmmmmmmm........ You have inspired me Patrick :^D Patrick R. Derksen replies: "I have? Cool. I'm glad you like the concept. Thanks." | |
| 10 Jun 2002 | Chelsea Schetzle | The woman's figure is nice, and the leaves on the dress is a very nice touch, they fit quite well. I -love- the tree engraving on the pillar! The hand resting on her hip is also very natural, however her right arm is a bit limp and tapers too harshly. Lovely composition though! Patrick R. Derksen replies: "Well, that pillar certainly generates a lot of discussion, that's for sure. I like the tree engraving too, and I enjoy when people notice it. You're right about the arm...d'oh!" | |
| 23 Jul 2002 | Lori 'Lolli' Thomas | YAY!!!! I HAVE POWER OVER PLANTS!!!! *fills her room up with pretty smelly flowers* Weeeee!!!! I like this one... hehehe. Patrick R. Derksen replies: "And I named her after you!! Isn't that exciting?!...okay, I didn't "consciously" name her after you, but I'm sure somewhere in my brain the connection was made... it's a stretch, I know. And I know other Lori's, but I'm sure it had nothing to do with them. Anyway, thanks for commenting!" | |
| 27 Jan 2003 | Calenorė The Forgotten Elf Ranger <Loading... Hey why does she have my hair style????? Oh well loving you (not in that* way) you have so much talent *claps for you* and could you one day draw one of my novel characters for me? Well ttyl! Patrick R. Derksen replies: "Hey, you never know! Send me a story sometime. Glad you like the drawing!" | |
| 15 Jun 2003 | Becky | I love the picture very much, it gives off a mysterious feeling, and Im loving the candle thing, it goes with the feeling it gives off. and the tree on the piller is a beautiful touch...I love it all Patrick R. Derksen replies: "Thanks, I'm glad you like it. " | |
| 12 Jul 2004 | Beau | I am always amazed by your talent. I do not see anything wrong with the picture her arm lentgh is fine. Patrick R. Derksen replies: "Merci! I can credit my talent in part to doodling and drawing around at your place - remember SeaFox? I still have that around somewhere..." | |
| 15 Sep 2004 | Julia | good thing that you drew that cool fantasy candle holder thingie in this picture. She isn't wearing a cape and doesn't have pointy ears so it's a miracle it's still here. Can you tell that I'm annoyed that they're censoring stuff? Science fiction and fantasy isn't just elves and robots. I've read enought sci fi books to know that humans are in there too. Argh! Patrick R. Derksen replies: "Shhh...you'll anger them. Their wrath is terrible and swift. Beware the mods!" | |
