| 3 Apr 2004 | Rebekah M. Haskell | Wow. I just love the background. Very beautiful. The reflections in the water are just gorgeous. I also like the fact that the fairy is wearing high heels Patrick R. Derksen replies: "High heels - Ha! That is something, isn't it. Must be those shoe-maker elves that made those for her, huh? Thanks for commenting!" | |
| 15 Apr 2004 | Chelsea Schetzle | How.. wh- meh. *dies* I can't do backgrounds for the life of me. Hello by the way, thought I'd stop back by since you've always commented on my random drawings. LOVE the background. Those trees (specially upper left) I'm just in awe. I simply cannot pull off trees. I'll be back to study this! One critique, with the leaves and twigs and such so well rendered, I keep expecting her wings to be more detailed. Lovelylovely image! I think you've improved quite a bit from several years ago when I first visited. Patrick R. Derksen replies: "Wow! Everything's topsy-turvy! I spent more time on a background than a figure? What's up with that? Soon everybody will wear shoes on their hands and hamburgers will eat people! " | |
| 27 Apr 2004 | Danthalion | Wow! The reflection of the water is just amazing... Very good image this is. Patrick R. Derksen replies: "The water effect was kind of fun to do. (Which translates to: by complete fluke it worked out nicely.)" | |
| 6 May 2004 | Manuela B. Duczeminska | Oh, wow, the landscape is totally captivating and the composition is just great. One remark, though - you might want to do more shading on the fairy as on this wonderfully 3D background she looks too flat. Patrick R. Derksen replies: "I agree. She was supposed to look slightly luminescent, but it just looks like I didn't feel like shading her. An utter failure once again - I apologize. ; )" | |
| 17 Jul 2004 | Julia | I like her shoes Patrick R. Derksen replies: "She has shoes? She DOES have shoes. Well, what do ya know. Thanks!" | |
| 29 Jul 2004 | Lori E. White | I'm not too keen on the fairy, although the lines are really nice. However... That background! *dies* It's done so nicely and it has this really relaxing feel to it. ^^ The trees are done beautifully. ^^ Patrick R. Derksen replies: "Could be that for once I spent more time on the background than the figure. That could be it. Though I didn't intend for it to be lethal..." | |
| 9 Aug 2004 | Shannon Knepp | Hey. O.O Thought that I'd cruise on by, see if you had anything new. You bum. Any way, the background on this picture is beautiful. I'm diggin' the fairy, too, but I think that (her) right hand may be to small? I'm guilty of finding ways to hide hands. No matter how hard I work on them, they don't seem to be getting any better. >.O Damn them! Patrick R. Derksen replies: "I know, for some reason I'm having trouble with hands lately...just ignore them I guess. That goes for everybody! Thanks for the comment!" | |
| 26 Aug 2004 | Audrey S. Totire | I like the detail you put in the background. It's a nice composition. The faerie kind of has that look on her face like the shoes are giving her blisters *L*---I would be too, can't do high heels as well as I used to! Patrick R. Derksen replies: "Thankyou. I actually took time to plan the compostion, so I'm glad you like it. As for her shoes, I suppose she would have had to steal them from some Barbie doll, and they look pretty hard and uncomfortable, I suppose." | |
| 25 Sep 2004 | Marlena Cannon | Again, beautiful landscape. You have a real eye for beauty in nature. Patrick R. Derksen replies: "Thanks! It was actually quite time-consuming. Well, compared to my usual backgrounds" | |
