SciFi and Fantasy Art: Encounter

This is a first sketch for a picture that I would eventually like to move to acrylic on canvas. For now, though, I'm looking for advice and opinions before I go any further. Thanks!

Neat proportion! Is she going to be a mermaid? be half in and half out of the water. That would be cool. Just a suggestion! Otherwise, I love it.

Well, I could tell she was a mermaid. I agree with Nick Wan Fu. Those are the areas you need to concentrate on - her belly, breasts, and hair. The concept it awesome, though.

well I think what would add a lot to this, when you paint it, is if you added waves, or water. It would really add to the color and detail. But all in all, it is pretty good, and a intriging idea.

Seeingthat she'sa mermaid, I'm assuming this picture is underwater. If so, you might want to sketch (lightly) some lines for light shining own from the surface (unless it's really deep, but then it would be kinda dark, doncha think?) Secondly, I get the impression that she's wearing a shirt, if that's so, you could try making it 'swirl' because they're underwater (I think) same thing with the hair. Other than that, it looks great! Keep on drawing, and I hope this helps.

Am I the only one who sees this? That is a fairy in her hand, and she is out of the water and on the rocks. Her belly is fine, she doesnt need to be twiggy, maybe add a little muscule tones to her stomach. This picture looks great, and all else I could see is it needs to be finished!

I love her pose! Since you're looking for suggestions, I wouldn't have her tail fin going off the page like that... it draws the eyes off the action too much, I think. Some motion in her hair would add some interest too, as if there were a little breeze. The water looks a bit sketchy right now... it's kind of hard to follow what's happening. But it looks good, and I like it. Hope that was helpful.

o.k I can clearly tell that shes on the rocks because faeries do not fly in water. Also who cares if she has a belly mermaids are suppossed to be the ultimate tempting female and female are SUPPOSSED TO HAVE CURVES.This would inculde rounding in the lower abdomen. I myself really love this picture. I wouldnt change a thing.

she's not on the rocks, she's on the BOTTOM of the ocean, this is obvious because that is not an ORDINARy fairy in her hand, it's a mermaid-fairy! didn't anyoneelse see it's tail? i think that's the whole point of theis picture, and i really like the concept! i agree with the comments on the belly, breasts and hair though. can't wait to see an acrylic version, it should look awsome!

I think other comment submitters should really check their spelling before they submit. Other than that, great picture.

don't change her, her body is just perfect! just add some nipples p'raps....and make her hair a little bigger, and make it 'float' yaknowwhatimean. and color it. well, that's about it, I think.
